Behrens cb with Fanuc C1500B laser cutter with dirty lenses/ mirrors?

Apparently this machine was used to cut some reflective aluminum and it caused some sort of feedback that either dirtied or marred the lenses/ mirrors. Is this a common problem? Could it be something else?

Its a Behrens CB with a 3000W laser powered by a Fanuc C1500B.
