Programming G code

[BRAIN-HURTS]

Hi Guys.
I have a Fanuc series 16-W on a Robocut wire eroder. I am trying to learn how to program it manually and am completely stumped.
I have tried to edit a programme that is already resident in the control and I am able to edit coordinates on existing lines but cannot fathom how to start a new line.
Please educate me so I can move on to the next set of problems. Cheers guys.
