Default Robofil - Won't Auto-Cut Wire, E735, Threading Motor Fault

Here's the next gate to get through on this robofil 510 machine.. the machine doesn't auto cut the wire. When you press the cut button, the brake and unspooling lights flash, the machine unspools some wire, the water turns on, you can hear the EDM contacts pull in in the cabinet, but then nothing happens, it just sits there.

the wire cutter is a ceramic blade that is air actuated. the machine never gets to the point where it activates the blade. if you wait long enough the machine will eventually say E735 Threading Motor Fault, then the unspooling and water turn off and the machine just goes back to sitting there doing nothing.

I'm not sure what to think on this one. I have run the wire setup routine, and oddly the proposed values for Ton, and Toff are both 1. The default value for these is 22, and the machine has values of 30 when you load the software.

Well, you have to applaud CT for their verbose alarms. The threading motor had a broken solder joint - some prior maintenance tech did a pretty poor job on this. Got some new wires on there, and the motor works. Not sure about threading cycles working yet, but at least the E735 should go away.

    This problem is solved.

obviously fixing the connection to the motor was the main thing. Other than that the air cylinder for the cutting blade pulled in to cut the wire but then it wouldnt push back out. it looks like the cut block air cylinder plug with the oring pushed out. the previous owner just put a screw in there to hold it in against the z axis sheet metal. I put that screw back, and it works.

so the machine auto cuts the wire just fine.

although it doesnt always thread correctly there after. must have to do with alignement of the head components, dull cut blade, etc. thats for another forum thread though.
