It really sounds like the steppers are running a bit rough for some reason. Or it could be that your pinions are set a bit deep into the rack.
Hi guys, my first post here.
Just finished building this cnc plasma structure. Trying to get it dialed in.
I have nema 23 motors and rack and pinion.
Why is it so damn noisy?
It sounds like a vacuum cleaner with a bunch of rocks tumbling around in it.
I ended up sanding the 2x2's to make them smoother but it barely helped.
Its not nearly as loud in the video... but you get the point.
Everyone else's machines sound so cool, like electric cars and mine sounds like rocks in a tin can?
thanks!

Is the gantry running smooth still though? It sounds like something is loose to me. Maybe even just a screw that is vibrating around.

i have a question,
which is better to attaching rack rail on above or bottom side? what it's pros and cons ?
thankyou verymuch
please i need help&explained..
You normally want the rack teeth pointing down so that it doesn't fill up with chips and crud. Gravity is your friend here.
