Old 3040 MINI-CNC parallel interface card replace by USB card ?

Hello ! I'm a newbie in CNC milling and I just got an old MINI-CNC ENGRAVING MACHINES 3040.
It has only a parallel port and I would like to use MACH3 USB connection.

Reading other threads I could read that perhaps I can use a MACH3 Interface board BL-USBMach V2, I could see I can buy one for about 40€.

I would be willing to buy and test it but I'm wondering how to use this board: do I have to put it in place of the original parallel port card and directly connect X Y Z and other wires to the USBMach board ? or do I have to connect it to the original parallel port card ? sorry for my dummy question I'm a real newbie ;-) !

Any advice are welcome !
