Wiring single phase lathe motor

I recently acquired a lathe and motor and trying to figure out how to wire it up. The motor model can be seen in the photos below. Now, from my very little experience, it appears the previous owner had just set it up for a single direction use? Could be completely wrong though. Anyway, I am having a hard time figuring out what I need to get it hooked up. I know I need a switch, which I believe would be a drum switch, is this correct? Also, a main power shutoff switch, or is this not necessary? Finally, do I need a capacitor? Or two?

Also, while I'm asking, I'm also having a hard time finding a schematic for some reason, or maybe I just cant read them properly, so does anyone have one they could share?
