    Thanks for sharing.
I am a big fan of 3D scanning for 3D printing and published a lot of blogs on the subject with original images. I haven’t had experience with industrial-grade laser scanners, yet, but keep trying out the ones that come out on the consumer market. In almost all cases 3D printing is involved.

I went into 3d in a big way but it has not went anyplace, there is no real business here for 3d but i was self taught and that the price that cost
my printer will print 29inx29inx29in and i have 2 commercial scanners
the scanners are good but its a learning experience
Its all very amazing stuff but takes a long time and lots of things can go wrong during a 20 hour print
These scanners will also produce files for CNC

Do you mean that the scanners will produce point clouds from which a tool path may be generated?

the 2 scanners i have are professional scanners with different specs (size they will scan)
One of the formats they produce is *.stl which can be 3d printed or cnc cut using vetric aspire 11.0

What's the state of the art in photogrammetry (Using a bunch of 2D photos from different angles to create a 3D model) these days? It seems like an approach which has always been on the brink of actually working to create printable/carvable models, but has never been quite there yet. Has anything changed recently? Is there an app that anyone's had good luck with yet?

I looked into photogrammetry and it was a lot of work , the scanners are very expensive so photogrammetry is probably a way to go
Scanners can run 4-7000.00 ea but work like a drill pick it up turn it on and scan
Its all a steep learning curve, but very interesting and a lot of software use after you have scanned

not sure about the question, the scanner does take images and a lot but I never pay attention to that part
maybe you will see it in one of my videos

I love 2D and 3D printing. I have a 3d printer for miniatures, I will follow these steps to make my miniatures like this.
