I wish to make models using modeling clay, scan them, modify them in zbrush and Rhino, and machine them on the 3 axis cnc.
This is for artistic embellishment of staircase stringers, posts, and door panels.

It doesn't seem like a scanner for this application needs to be that high end to achieve my detail level.
I'm not trying to produce parts to tolerance. This is artistic work that will involve final hand chisel cleanup etc.

My final machining will involve 1/16" diameter ballnose tooling at the smallest.

Either hand-held or a cnc chuck-mount scanner sound like solutions.

Any recommendations?
