Default geko540 and the g0704 mill cnc conversion kit questions

I have a geko540 and have ordered the g0704 mill cnc conversion kit from www.automationtechnologiesinc.
    I also bought:

    1) x1 NEMA34 Stepper Motor – 1200oz/in 6amp Single Shaft for my z.
    2) x2 NEMA23 381OZ/IN 3.5A MOTOR KL23H2100-35-4BC with Cable for G540 x and y
    3) x1 https://www.automationtechnologiesin...r-mach3-mach4/

My geko 540 i believe is 3.5 amp like the nema23 motors I ordered, anyone know if this NEMA34 will even work with a geko540?

Also they sent me 3/8" couplers but the motors in 3.5 amp on thir site is only 1/4" shaft. I cannot find a 380oz plus nema23 with 3/8' shaft on thier site.

I am super new to this so be gentle lol.........

It will work fine with the 32 stepper. Holding torque will just be reduced as you can’t achieve the maximum amperage.

As for the couplers, you may be out of luck. There should be 3/8” shaft nema 23’s, I do believe, but if you ordered mismatched couplers and shafts it’s not going to work. That said, assuming they pick parts for the kit, I’d sure hope they provide matching stuff.

    Thanks.....
I talked to geko and they stated the nema34 might be parallel or series therefore I can wire for 3 amps not 6amps possibly. If not they stated I would need a g201 step driver.
Is that not accurate? I don't mind reduced torque as long as it will work. Are they just trying to sell me extras?

On the nema 23's I found 3/8 to 1/4 couplers on amazon and ordered them incase automationtech wont return or have nema23's with 3/8 shaft and 3.5 amp.

Soooooooo are you stating I can use motors with higher than 3.5amps with the G540 and I will just not have the full amperage/torque? Im fine with that for now as my budget is GONE...……………

You can only run your motors at whatever max amperage they are rated for. Your drives should be setup to keep the amperage just under that rated value.

For the Nema 34 the motor is rated well over the amperage the G540 can supply, just wire it however it needs wired to interface the G540 correctly. If it's a four wire stepper that's very straightforward, if it's an 8 wire stepper you'll have to pair the wires into four bundles of two.

    Hi

The motors will work with the G540, but as others have stated the torque produced will be reduced.

I run 570oz.in 5A motors with a G540 on my BF20 style mill. The performance is more than the mill needs.

I’d run the motors and see how you go.

    Cheers
