    Default Want a FineLine 2’x3’, but. . . .

Hey guys, I could really use your help and input!

I have been looking at one of their 2 x 3 machine kids for about two months now. I’ve researched them as much as possible, and I’ve talked to a couple of guys who have them and love them. My biggest dilemma is, I have probably Tried calling Nathan at least 35 times over these past two months, and at least 20 or so emails, with no response. Despite the good but small feedback I’ve heard, it is really hard for me to commit buying something of this price without knowing that there will be some sort of support there if I need it…

I realize this may be somewhat irrational, but unfortunately it is my gut telling me to hold off on getting something when there may be no support behind it.

Have you guys had better luck than me, or maybe think that I might be overthinking this?

I was in the same boat. I was going to purchase a 4x8 kit and decided to go a different direction.

Nate is by his own admission not very good at communication, but his products are good and he's always responded to my service needs. I sent him a message that you've been trying to contact him but I haven't talked to him in a couple of months so no idea what's going on in his world.

I've had the same experience as David. We waited weeks to even get a quote after our initial conversations with Nate, but once the order was placed it was handled quickly and on time. One of my students has since placed an order with FLA with the same experience. He almost backed out for lack of response, but just heard back that his machine will be ready to ship in a little over a week. He bought it with full knowledge that Nate is notoriously slow to respond.

Having said all that, in my experience, most issues that new CNC owners encounter are related to controllers, electrical drives and software. I advised my student to purchase those components through another source with known, quick response to problems so that there are no conflicts where support is concerned. It's rare to have significant mechanical problems that can't be resolved easily and quickly. Nate has been good about retroactively acknowledging and upgrading known issues.

That is a good looking machine no doubt, but I already pulled the trigger on a different brand machine. Thank you though!

All I can say is he has responded to all my emails and my machine will be shipped next week. I delayed shipping because I have been busy with a flooded basement (1-4 inches) and did not have time to deal with a new machine right now. I send emails, short and to the point. Like Nate I have a limited amount of time in a day even as retired and phone calls do Not work well for me. An email can be answered even at 2 am in the morning.
