    Question Second FSSB Path Setting

We're finishing a Tsudakoma 5th axis integration on a robodrill with a 16i-mb controller and running into some trouble with the FSSB configuration. The manual gives all the parameters needed to do the additional 2 Axis option and the control also has the option to load parameters for the additional axis in the Quick/NC - Maintenance menu, so we loaded the default parameters for the two ?2/5000i servos and compared the parameters to what was in the operators manual for the option.

Now on to manually setting the FSSB hierarchy,

The new two axis amp is connected to the control according to the option instructions in the operator's manual. XYZ and spindle remain on their own fiber path to the NC at COP10A-1, and B and A are on a seperate path to the servo card optical port COP10A-2.

Set parameter No.1023 to include the 4th and 5th axis according to the manual. Its notated for 5th axis specification, that #1023 B axis should be set to 5 and #1023 A axis set to 6.

Set parameter No.1905#1. B axis is set for fast transmission, A axis slow according to the manual.

Parameters No. 1910 ~ 1919 appear to be the slave addresses for the first FSSB path for Spindle, XYZ and a M1 module. Set as 0,1,2,16,40,40,40,40,40,40.

Parameters No.1920 ~ 1924 are set to reflect the axis label number. Manual says to add (4) to No.1923 and (5) to No.1924 for 4th and 5th axis numbers in the FSSB. This is where there is some confusion because this appears to be labeling for the first FSSB path. Second path axis labeling parameters being No. 1980 ~ 1984. At this point im realizing the manual appears to be instructions of adding another amp in series on the first FSSB path and not as its show in the option for two additional axis and the separate FSSB path.

The second FSSB path has its own parameters for the ATR slave addresses starting at Parameter No. 1970 ~ 1979. I can see that #1970-1980 have the values of 4 and 5 after declaring the axis numbers in the FSSB - Amp Menu.

This is where the problem begins.

If I choose the axis numbers in the FSSB - Amp Menu for the two additional axis as 4 and 5, it sets the ATR slave address values of Parameter No.1970 ~ 1971 to 4 and 5 and the rest to a value of 40 indicating no slave for 1972 ~ 1979. ie 4,5,40,40,40,40,40,40,40,40

It also sets the values in #1980-1981 to the axis numbers 4 and 5. After setting this in the FSSB - Amp menu it doesn't recognize the amp correctly. If I set the address values (1970 ~ 1971) to 40, it will recognize the amp but of course wouldn't be configured correctly.

Any tips on setting this would be appreciated.

    * Trying to manually set since the auto configure option for the FSSB just sets everything to 40 for some reason. *

    Quick Update.

Restored parameters back to last save and tried the auto fssb setting again.

If I set parameter No.1023 to 1,2,3,4,5 before restarting and assigning the axis in the FSSB - Amp Menu, It will populate X,Y,Z,B but not A.
If I set parameter No.1023 to 1,2,3,5,6 according to the manual, it will only populate X,Y,Z and not B or A. The Amp Menu does not populate any info for B and A if the axis is assigned 5 and 6 as per the manual.

Good news is auto FSSB now assigns the slave addresses just as they were by default for the first FSSB path with X,Y,Z ect. 0,1,2,16,40,40,40,40,40,40. and also assigns the second path for B and A as 4,5,40,40,40,40,40,40,40,40.

Not sure why FSSB will not assign slave address when the 1023 is set to the values recommended by the manual. I have to be missing something here.

    *Solved

The axis control card on the mainboard had been changed to a 6 axis card. Even though it was a 6 axis card it needed to be the 8 axis card to work with our configuration.
