Default FANUC AC MAIN SPINDLE problem!!

    Hello all.
We have FANUC AC regulator for main spindle type A06B-6059-K0311.
On display we have error message AL-17.
Regulator has display on main board and 4 buttons

    MODE UP

    DATA_SET DOWN

We have checked all voltages (+24; +15; -15 and 5 V) are they are ok.
Could anybody tell us what is ALARM-17.
How to enter parameters and listing of parameters.

    Best regards !

I faced with same problem on the 10T control. But I do not remember model of spindle amp. My control displayed OT113 error and AL-17 was on the spindle amp. I received the quote on the forum:
    My notes say Alarm 17:
    (1) Meaning
In the main circuit, the voltage at the DC link is abnormally high.
A fuse of the AC reactor unit may have blown.
    (2) Cause and troubleshooting
    (a) An input fuse of the AC reactor unit has blown.
    → Replace the fuse.
    (b) Regeneration circuit failure
    → Replace the unit.

I searched the whole Fanuc Manual for the alarm AL-17.But no luck it was not there. The problem also occured on my machine wich has a Fanuc OT-D control. The problem was tht the serial pulse coder was malfunctioning later when we opened it an IC was blown this defective pulse coder gave wrong signals to the IGBT due to this the IGBT was also found defective. Please check the components of the spindle drive like the IGBT(spindle module). The serial pulse coder(encoder) wich is usually of 1024PPR or 2500PPR,check all its signals. After rectifying some defects in them the problem shud be solved.

I had an AL-17 just this week and this is what I did to fix my problem

How to initialize the memory (NV-RAM) on the AC Digital Spindle PCB.
    ALARM #17

    1) Obtain a current spindle parameter list from the Machine Tool Builder.
(This parameter list was supplied by the MTB and should be with the machine.)

    2) Turn main power off.

    3) On the spindle board change the jumper setting "S1" from DRIVE to TEST.

    4) On newer spindle PCB, "SH" jumper must be set from DRIVE to SET.
(Most spindle boards do not have this jumper setting.)

    5) Turn the main power on.
You will see the 7 segment display changing as follows.
    (00000) to (11111) to...to (FFFFF) to (00000) etc.

    6) Push and hold down all 4 buttons (MODE, DATA SET, UP & DOWN)
at the same time until you see (FFFFF) on the display.

    7) Push and hold down the (MODE) button, while pushing the (UP) or (DOWN)
    button until (FC-22) is displayed.

    8) Push and hold the (DATA SET) button until you see (GOOD) on the display.

    9) Turn the main power off.

    10) Change the "S1" jumper setting from TEST to DRIVE.

    11) Change the "SN" jumper setting from SET to DRIVE. (If board has jumper)

At this point, the generic spindle parameters are set. Your machine will not operate properly with these parameters.
The next step is to load the customized parameters back into your machine. The MTB parameter list is needed at this time.

    HOW TO CHANGE PARAMETERS

    1) With the main power off, set the "SH" jumper from DRIVE to SET
(Most spindle boards do not have this jumper setting.)

    2) Turn the main power on.

    3) Push and hold all 4 buttons (MODE, DATA SET, UP & DOWN)
at the same time until you see (FFFFF) on the display.

    4) Push the (MODE) button, you will see parameter number (F-00) Release the(MODE) button to see the parameter contents.

    5) To change the parameter number, push and hold down the (MODE) button, and push the (UP) or (DOWN) buttons to scroll to the next parameter.

    6) To change contents of parameter, release the (MODE) button and push the (UP) or (DOWN) button. Change the value to the values on the parameter sheet.

    7) After all parameters have been changed, push and hold the (DATA SET) button untill you see (88888) on the display

    8) Turn the main power off.

    9) Change the "SH" jumper setting from SET to DRIVE. (if jumper is used)

The spindle board has been initalized and the parameters reset. At this time your spindle should run.

To my mind type of machine does not very matter. The following text from manual for spindle amp. of Tsugami NP 32. But data for spindle amp. of Tsugami NU4Y are enclosed too.
F00 - Motor rotation speed display
F01 - Machine stand-by finish signal (MRDY) in use ("1") or not in use ("0")
F02 - Speed override in use ("1") or not in use ("0")

F06 - Setting pattern for output limit:
    discription pattern1 pattern 2

    decceleration only 1 4
    Limit for normal ro
    tation only and not for
    acc/dec 2 5
    Limit for norm. rot.
    and for acc/dec 3 6

F08 - Delay-time setting until power to motor is shut off (delay time = set value x 40 msec)
F09 - Power to motor shut off ("1") or not shut off ("0") depending on machine stand-by finish signal (MRDY)
F10 - Speed error offset adjustment when forward rotation is set (SFR) is commanded

Only several parameters depend on machine settings. In general, you should look into whole spindle parameters meaning, then find out what kind of model of motor is being used and only then try to change them

    Dear duke356
I'm Thank a lot for information
Last time my machine fanuc 0t alarm al-17.

    Some step not used
    HOW TO CHANGE PARAMETERS

    1) With the main power off, set the "SH" jumper from DRIVE to SET
(Most spindle boards do not have this jumper setting.)

    other step is ok

    thank

    Default A06B-6055-H106

I wasn't able to access any parameters until I put the jumper into test mode. Once I did that it would flash from 000000 to 111111, 222222, 333333, 444444, 555555, 666666, 777777, 888888, 999999, AAAAAA, BBBBBB, CCCCCC, DDDDDD, EEEEEE, FFFFFF, back to 000000 and reapeat.

When you held MODE it would only display FC-00 through FC-23, which I had no documentation on. After attempting to adjust any parameter (wouldn't let me change anything) I got to FC-21 (or 22?) at which point I hit the DATA-SET button and it flashed a "GOOD" message.

    Powered down machine.

Changed the jumper back to DRIVE mode and powered the machine back up. It then showed the 00000 like it should! I held the MODE key and input F00 through F40 which were in my control documentation and everything works fine now (phew)!

Note that I did home the machine before this worked, not sure if it matters..

So now I'm worried the drive is on its way out, should I be concerned?

Thank u Duke for posting this info. But need further more assistance from you. When i tried to initialize the NVRAM...upto stage 7its OK with me. but when i tried stage 8 i.e holding and pressing data set button it never came in "Good" condtion even i waited long time. Insted of that it flashes AL-17. Even when i tried to insert parameter it not showing the parameter values.

pls post on this as soon as possible.

    Dear Guhl,

where can I find the FF parameter? Is in the Yaskawa A1000?

I want to turn the rigid tapping on. Landsides said turn FF31 to 1 but I do not know how to change this parameter.

Thanks very much for your help!
