As mentioned, a 25 pin null modem adaptor might work for you. Pretty readily available on line and at some electronics stores.
So today was very productive with some luck.
As mentioned I've been chasing down the technician who had my parameters service book.
Well i walk into Jaycar electronics today to buy the 9 and 25 pin connectors and cable. Guess who i walk into at Jaycar (5 miilion people in Sydney) yes i walk into the CNC technician who had my book in his car for like 5 months! So yes i now have my book.
Anyhow ill have to put my cable together hopefully tomorrow. Ill keep everybody posted about the communication. Thanks guys for all your help so appreciate it guys.
If this works and load programs ill be a very happy man.
Hi guys I've had some success.
So now i have made up the cable, i believe its correct. I now have LSK flashing on the CNC screen which i could never get before.
It looks like the program loads on but doesn't actually load, LSK continues to flash. No errors appear but i think if the program loaded correctly LSK should stop flashing? And the program number should appear on the CNC screen?
Ill post a picture of the settings, maybe this is the issue?
Program I'm trying to load
Tried both Null modem and Full Handshake. LSK continues to flash when trying to load program.
Punch to PC in Null Modem LSK turns off.
Punch to PC in Full Handshake LSK continues to flash.
I now have my book with Parameters if that helps this situation?
Also when Punch to PC has Alarm 071
Sorry if I've already asked but before I bring a technician are there any numbers in diagnostics or parameters I should look for regarding communication with RS 232?
...this may help, after reading the adventure downunder.
Also, USB to serial convertors can be a problem sumtimes....use a brand name like Tripplite.
DJ
thanks guys. Ill see what happens. Great info
Hi zaateandu
Thanks for this.
Just trying to make sense of this and make sure i have this correct.
(Baud rate) Example i just choose serial 1, i go to I/O and punch in the numbers 0 or 1?
Parameters 0552 and 0553 i can punch in values 1 to 12 which has baud rate of 50 to 19200?
(Stop Bits) im a little confused with 0002#0. I see 00020 on my machine without #
...Fanuc Baud Table
Setting Value Baud Rate
1 50
2 100
3 110
4 150
5 200
6 300
7 600
8 1200
9 2400
10 4800
11 9600
12 19200
I would try Sending the Parameters List CNC > PC for testing at 4800, then go to 9600. Another thing that may help you see what is going on with RS232 port is a Tester.
Example below:

ussualy you use 0 as channel
baudrate i ussually use 10 as 4800 to 552 for channel 0
stop bits 002#0 menas parameter 2 bit 0 ,like XXXXXXX1
LSK will blink untill transmission get started adn will change to INPUT or OUTPUT depending on what you doing, outputting or inputting
i would suggest to start inputting a simple program like:
%
O0001
M3S100
G4X5.
M5
M30
%
Whne this program will enter than you can punch it out and check the other way
Thanks guys again.

zavateandu, so does this mean i should punch in 00000001 in Parameter 002?
