Default Variable for value of current offset in spindle. Fanuc 16i

I am on a 4axis milling machine, and I have seen information about Variables #5081, and #5082 containing values of active height offset of tool in spindle. I am not on site to check this, but does anyone know which variable has the value of the active height offset?

What I am trying to do is set up a macro program do drop the height offset by about .005" every time the tool is called, up to a limit of course. This is for a deburring brush that wears as we use it.

    Thanks.

Normally I wouldn't want to edit the active tool offset as there are parameters as to when the new value actually takes effect. I would consider changing the stored value of the offset used for the tool prior to activating it.
The variable number to set tool compensation depends on what type of offsets you have.
    #10001 = tool offset 1 for tool comp a
#11001 = tool offset 1 for tool comp b and geometry height for tool comp c
#10001 = tool offset 1 wear height comp for tool comp c.
You can use #2000 series if less than 200 offsets.

    Thanks,

I agree on changing it before it is called. It may be pulled elsewhere in the memory, and not able to adjust on the fly. I will probably update at the end of this tool call once I get this working, then I will post what I did back here.

You might be better off writing a macro to do that for that specific tool and inserting it in your CAM software.
