My CNC machine will not read file with extension

My CAM software writes programs with an extension .NC at the end of the program number ( O1234.NC), My CNC machines will not recognize this when I am trying to upload it to the machine from a USB. I have been renaming the file with no extension and it works great. But now that I am using Windows10 I am having trouble renaming a file with no extension. Is there a way to get the machine to recognize the file with a .NC extension?? to avoid renaming all together

Hi sir,

Rename to O1234.txt, should work.
The M198 command uses files without extension.

Windows 10 simple to edit.
Go to file explorer.
At the top select 'view'
Far right, check the box 'file extension'
Now filer extensions will appear and can be edited.
