Default Somehow messed up Z offset or parameter, please help

Running a Hyundai Kia VX400 vertical with an oi-MC control. Have not had any issues with this machine until now. I have hit something and changed something somewhere and I can't figure it out.

Tools are set using a Renishaw probe. Machine has been shut off and restarted. Once the machine is on, zero return is done on all three axes.

After this, a part is put in vice and tool brought down. X and Y are set up on the outside of the part, near it. Tool is touched off on top of the part.

The offset page is brought up and the Work tab at bottom pressed. In the G54 XYZ fileds, X0., Y0., and Z0. are all put in their respective fields and measure is pressed.

Then the POS page is brought up and ABS tab hit at the bottom, reset is pressed, and all three axes are verified at 0.0000.

When the program is started in memory, the correct tool is called with its correct G43 H, and G54 is called. The tool appears to be correctly positioned in X and Y, but Z is about 5" high in the + position above the surface of the part. POS page is checked and it says exactly what the program called for, a Z of .1 or so above the part.

    What am I missing here?

I have reset the tool height as well just to be sure that is not it. When I substitute another tool, the height is off the same amount. For example using T2 instead of T1.

Sounds like there is a value in the shift z on your work offset page, offset 00

Maybe you switched the setting for manual absolute, try changing that

It is in the final code. Sorry, I typed that out by hand instead of actually copying the file.

Did you check your manual absolute setting?

It's either on the settings page, or else a physical switch on the control. It's either on or off. Find it and change the state of it and try your setup again

Check the settings stored in your control that describe the location and height of your tool setter devise. Maybe one of these settings got accidentally changed.

I'm not sure where I would find this. It has a Renishaw setter. Unfortunately, nobody here knows much about this machine. Guess it is time to learn

If your control panel has a Custom button on it, the settings will most likely be in there.
