Default Replacing a pulse coder on Fanuc 0M mill

I replaced the X axis pulse coder on my mill. The part number is A860-0304-T111. When I try to move the axis even 0.001 the motor rapids abruptly and the machine goes into an emergency stop state and I get X Axis Excess alarm.

I have since read that I may need re-time the pulse encoder? I haven’t had much luck finding any information on how to do so. Any advice?

Yes it must be timed to the motor. This has been addressed here before. The instructions are in this post:
