I have a Kasuga Quantum CNC machine with Fanuc 18M control.
Some times mainly when doing 3D surface work the machine is not following the program and goes haywire sometimes thru the part. It does this once and awhile and I don't know when it will do it.
It looks like it can't process that information that fast or something else... My other machines even older than this one, like Fanuc 11 and 15 work fine with the same program.
I thought maybe it happen to others and they know how to fix this.
Are you running from a PC card or data server?
You may need to replace the CF card as they have only a finite number of read/writes for memory location in the CF card.
I have a 1996 Fanuc 18MC - DRAM 2M and Additional SRAM 768KB.
We run the machine from a laptop not from CF.
It does fine even 3D passes, but sometime it goes crazy. The other older machines we have (Fanuc 15 and 11) when they can't follow the program at the programmed feed it slows down, but never gauge the part or go crazy.
The "540,000 MEMORY CHAR." is how much you have enabled. It can be upgraded to >2 million characters
By how much does the tool not follow the program? Send me a pm with your phone number and I'll call.
I have this kind of problem before when my customer was using a USB to serial adaptor, they switched to a true serial port on the PC and the machine ran fine.
