Default Fanuc servo replacement and encoder help

    Hello All,

Have a Miyano BNC34 running fanuc OT-C and replaced my Z axis servo. It was shorted out and was giving 401 code. Got the replacement yellow cap DC servo in and seems to be moving fine. The machine has zero return switches and it did move there fine. What procedure is needed to make the new encoder "sync" with the machine? I know that you just can't put a servo in and expect it to work. Need help please.

    Thanks,

    Terry

Not sure what you mean by 'Sync' there are a few different versions of encoder on a AC servo, but generally you do not need any procedure for implementing it.
Unless you are thinking of the zero offset parameter that adds or subtracts from the marker point zero.

    Al,

What I mean is there a procedure for installing a new encoder? I would think you just can't put in and it will work

Why not? What is the controller expecting to see?
Unless you removed the encoder from the motor. But normally there are installation marks on the encoder mounting tabs.
