401 Servo Alarm - Lathe works if holding power button
After running 5 or so parts, I loaded the next one in and pushed "GO"
While facing, the part came out of the chuck, shattered my insert and threw 3 alarms:
401: Servo alarm (VRDY OFF)
1018 Turret too slow
1027: Pressure lost
I was able to move the turret away from the spindle.
When turning the machine on, I have to hold the power button and no alarms are thrown.
I can change tools, turn the spindle, and move x and z axis.
As soon as I let off the power button, the errors appear.
Any help would be appreciated!
Re: 401 Servo Alarm - Lathe works if holding power button
Sounds like you have tripped an overtravel switch. These switches are generally wired normally closed. So when you make the switch the signal from the switch turns off. The problem is many builders run all the switches in series so if one drops they all drop. They could have ran it to an alarm but they sometimes just choose to kill the ESTOP. You can move everything with the power on button being held as a means to be able to move the axis off of the overtravel switch. (Overtravel Bypass) Your problem is you are not on the overtravel switch so you can never clear this by moving the axis around. You will have to find out which switch or wire feeding the switch(s) is bad.
