We need to replace a ROD 426 5000 Axis encoder. My doubt is how does the controller sense the encoder. Will any TTL encoder with equivalent pinout work as a replacement.

As long as the replacement encoder draws a similar load current controller sensing should not be a problem, Fagor controls have a parameter setting that turns off encoder sensing, maybe Fanuc is the same.
The ROD426 series are 5vdc TTL 150ma with incremental square wave differential outputs.
5000 p/rev is the highest these go.

The last time I had to buy a ROD426, they were not that expensive, or hard to get. Got it from a Heidenhain rep in St louis. One of the chuckle heads I know kept saying to get a Fagor equivalent as he had done previously on a sister machine. Fagor wanted more ,had a long leadtime, and wasnt a direct fit.
426-429 whatever it takes
One nice manuf. as a sub is Hengstler encoders.
