I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge on this machine ... My machinist is telling me that the spindle drive belt on my Mori Seiki MV Junior is slipping and will only cut aluminum ... does this mean that is must be replaced or, like most vertical mills, can be adjusted? If it can be adjusted, how is this done and how much tension should there be? This forum has gotten us through so many problems ... so I'm looking forward to all the great responses and thank you all so much!!
if it sliping for long time, iam sure the surface of the belt do not looks good and must be changed.
if not try to adjust the tension as much as you can twist one belt 90 degrees from its position.
good luck
The belt is geared. it should never slip.
The motor is not very powerful though.
Just how hard are you cutting?
I can only tap up to 3/8 in steel.
Any bigger tap the motor slows down/stops.
Just not enough power to drive harder.
I can cut a 1/2 em on side to 1" dp but not full width of em.
These will not cut 3/4 em 1" depth of cut in steel.
The Junior is a light weight mill not Heavy duty.
