That was an older DOS modem program that was used by Fanuc, just substitute the Procomm instructions for whatever program you are using, there is a free one on Cadem site, Cadem Lite if you need one.

Virtually any Modem based RS232 program will work, I still use the old Telix or Qmodem, both DOS based, just because they are quicker to load and I don't have to mess with windows just to transfer a file!.
Some have used Hyperterminal, but IMO it is a PITA to set up.

seem to be getting them except there seems to be lag between the computer and the cnc that is causing it not to start at the beginning of the list...ie when i download the parameters it starts at no.167 with a bunch of un decipherable jiberish at the top..

and i accidently wiped my tool change program but i have it written down anyway...

Make sure you have the hardware H.S. either connected or jumpered out, also Fanuc uses XON/XOFF for flow control.
I assume you have the 900 parameters in hard or soft copy?

and while i will have some time to kill till the board gets fixed can anyone tell me how to shield the machine from the high frequency welder and or shield the welder from the rest of the shop? is it as simple as individually grounding to the ground and not the common ground which is the beams of the building?

Hi Kirby, I know this is an old post, but at the moment the same thing is happening to me, I have a CMV Okuma Howa 438 with a Fanuc 18M control. The transmission worked fine a few months ago, but it has been losing speed, I have had to lower from 9600 to 2400 baud, also the DNC communication always shows me the buffer overflow alarm, I am very interested in knowing how you solved the problem.
