Default Fadal 6535 Z travel height

    I purchased a 2001 Fadal 6535, it’s supposed to have 65x35x 34” travel.
On the Z axis it will only descend 28” instead of 30”. I’ve changed the software module to a newer one (version 103.5) with no change on the distance of travel.

I will attach pictures of the z axis motion board along with the cpu that shows software versions and EPROMs. Any help is greatly appreciated, I don’t want to run extended length tool holders to be able to reach parts or create sub plates to bring the table height up. I’d like to be able to use the t slots and keep the rigidity in tooling.

...this is an odd problem with Z travel you have. The EPROMS ELE-1444 and the jumpers in your photo all look correct for 1010-6A Z axis....Have you tried Zero Memory? But, before trying make sure to save ALL Programs, Tool Comps, and if, you have the DATC type Tool changer do a "Sort Tools" Function or you'll have problems after Zero Memory.

I have also done this procedure when I changed to the updated software module and again when I changed it back to the original. It was very sluggish and slow with the new software version. I’m wondering what are the possibilities that the previous owners could of had the eprom written to stop it at -28.00”? I don’t know how those are written but I know they can be copied and reproduced.

...easy to find out if the Z proms have been reprogrammed...swap them with X or Y proms or purchase a new set for 35 if, all of them may have been changed.

...one more thing to check is use the "SV" Command to view Zero Offset value stored on the Z card

...your welcome. But, of coarse the Zero Offset for Z would affect the Tool change position. So, I dont think its the problem.

    Sleep well,...
