    Default VH-65 troubleshooting

I posted this on PM, sorry if you hang out at both

I recently purchased a used VH-65. It looks to be in excellent condition, with little signs of use, but the seller didn’t know if it was functioning as he had no Fadal .
My machine previously had a 4th on it before I got it. It’s wired and had a 1010 card and amplifier.
The amplifier and 1010 card appear to be working by the blinking lights and green light on the amp card.
I have air hooked to the machine and the solenoid is working I believe.

I changed my parameters per the manual and restarted the machine.

At first I was getting a #18 position error, now I’m getting a motor overload.

I’m guessing the brake is stuck.

How does the brake work? Air applied appears to be on? I have 90# air to the machine , I tried running a separate air line to the 4th and cranked the air up to 125. I can’t hear anything moving inside the 4th, can you hear the brake engage normally?

Anything I can check prior to taking the VH-65 apart?

    Thanks for the help

M60/M61 is the Brake Code. There is setting in SETP for Auto Brake. Normally you can not hear the Brake operation other than the Air pressure relief.
The 1010-axis Card should be blinking Green and no red light when Axis drivers are on.

    Ok thank you
I recall a parameter that was yes/no for the brake, I’ll have to look for the auto brake setting(unless it’s in auto if you select No to the M60/61 setting?)

Turned out to be a stuck motor brush, it had varnish or epoxy on it. Works like a champ now
