    Default Rs232 problems 88hs

    Peeps
Can't communicate with my 4020 that we purchased at auction . I have another fadal so have tried swapping some bits
I have tried the following to 1030-1c

    2 known good pc
2 know good cables from pc to vmc.
Swapped the rs232 cable from the cab to the 1030 board
Removed the card cleaned contacts with a rubber and installed.
Replaced both the 1489 and 1488 chips on the 1030 card.

    Still nothing.

The only thing I haven't changed is the 1030 card.
My other fadal has a 1030-1 card with a different suffix maybe a 'b'
    Can they be interchanged safely?

Did you look into the setting of the RS232 communication, the odd/even, the bit number and the rate?

Also maybe worth noting the other 1030-1b card in our other machine is without video. I believe these were available both with and without video.
The 1030-1c card we are having issues with is also without video.

I suspect they will be interchangeable but want confirmation prior is anyone knows?

I heard from ITS that they are interchangeable. I swapped the cards and rs232 works so the fault lies with my 1030-1c card.
I will send off for repair.
    Cheers

Greetings, this is Jerry at Highland DNC. ShopLink FLASH 2.0 is your hand held solution to RS232 file transfers.
Sold over 2500 units used on mostly Haas and Fadals, also Fanuc, Yasnac, Mazak, and many others.
The windows pc is now ill suited for RS232 for many reasons. Everyone knows how to use a flash drive and get a gcode file on one.
Then transfer it to the Fadal using the TA or DNC command through ShopLink FLASH 2.0.
I can SEND, RECEIVE and DNC a file up to 2000 megabytes.
Just google ShopLink FLASH 2.0 and contact me and I will explain everything.
