We recently got a Fadal VNC2216 with the 88HS controller and a Calmotion USB addapter inplace and since installation we have an issue with the X,Y and Z axies are all out of calibration. I program it to move 4.0000 but it moves to a location well beyond. With a 4." precision block in place and moving from one side to the other it reads 3.3300 on the screen. It is set in G17. We can't figure out where to enter ball screw pitch adjustments, or what's not right with it. Any help would be appreciated.
Ball screw pitch compensation would only be microns not the error your talking . Unless someone has seriously stuffed with it.
Check the parameters for ball screw info.
Maybe the setting has been changed from metric to imperial to metric.
The parameter table In the door of the pendant should tell you what screws are fitted to your machine.
Here goes anyway.....at the Command Line...type "SETP" check the setting for Inch or MM Ball Screws change as needed then hit "Manual" to exit Parameters Settings. Cold Start machine again "CS" on Command Line with all Home marks lined up for XYZ first. You can also load Diagnostic Programs in to Memory by ....typing TA,2 or 5 hit "Enter"....if I remember right.
Very likely you have an issue with the ballscrew type in the parameters as mentioned before. If you are still unable to get the accuracy right, look at the thrust bearings and ballscrew. You might be seeing lost motion in the screw assembly. I think a parameter change is the most likely cause. FadalCNC Tech Support
