    Default Getting renoshaw probe installed

So I picked up a good deal on a renishaw mp10 and it would be great to add to my machine. But I know nothing about this. Some people say I need a board to add the the machine others say I just need 24v. I’m lost.

I also am not sure if I need a omm and omi or if I get the omi what do I hook that too?

If I get a m8-4 and a 24v power supply do I need the Fadal 1570 board at all?
This way I can add a tool probe later if I get one.

Also if anybody has a used omm or omi I’m in need of something not sure what yet. Might have a sp2-1 probe for trade.

I just picked up a VMC40 with a Renishaw MP-9 and the optical doodad in the top corner, I will look to see what it is hooked up to when I hop out to the garage.

    Cool thank you

    I now have a mp10, omm, mi12, mi8-4, ts27r, and a 24v regulated supply.

Just gotta figure out the wiring.

I’m new to Fadal and CNC milling. Not sure what some of those part numbers correlate to but I have an OMI. Here are some pics of how it is connected. I will have to do some tracing to figure out everything though.

    Terminal block coming from OMI

Black and red wire plugged into this top board (not sure what board that is yet)

Small black, red and bare wire plugged into R17

Ah because you only have an omi(newer tech) it is much more simple in wiring. On the older systems you have to have an interface unit as well and since I’m using two probes. One tool setter and the spindle probe I have to allow the controller to enable or disable those inputs which is normally handled by the Fadal 1570-1 but I want to use the mi8-4 to do it.

But thank you for showing me your setup and until I figure it all out I may just set it up like you have it since it’s easier.

Also if you need any help with your machine let me know I’d be glad to try to help.

My wiring schematic how I think it will be.
