    cadman,

no worries... The program should only take 2-3 minutes with no cutting, no offsets. It is just a lot of X,Y points that make a 5" circle. Program is over 1 Mb so it is big enough to choke a control down to its terminal velocity.

Makes for a good CNC "motion control" comparision...

I'll try it out. I've got a Okuma MCV4020 with the OSP100E control. I'm still waiting for the eithernet and memory card upgrade to be installed. It's sitting here in the shop, so it shouldn't be long before the techs have it hooked up. Right now it has only 512k of memory.

Smile Mods To My 1990 4020 Fadal

HI, on my 1990 Fadal 4020, I added the graphics kit, -5 cards, 8 megs of memory,TR 65 5th axis interface, rigid tapping which included single cog belt system. Built my own manual pallet system. Rerouted X and Y lube lines for protection from kinks. Replaced original spindle in March, 2004. Machine has 28 inch Z.

We have a 3x and a 5x machines on the 3x there are ports to hook up a 4th axis but is unused one is a air line for the 4th axis break so I ran some air line from that to a magnetic air gun that I have stuck on the side of the z cover.

M60 turns the air blast on and M61 turns it off adding them to the correct places in a program works out well.

Oil skimmer that runs off of the mist collant plug.

    Disconnected the door interlocks.

xternal gardan hose spliced into the coolant line for wash down.

cemented the machine to the floor for more rigidness.

added long floresent shop lights (with plastic covers) across the opening on the top works very well.

covered the table (3x) with an aluminum plate bolted to the table for fast set ups.

Thats about all I can think of for now.

How did you accomplish this while allowing for leveling?

Maybe they glued down the leveling pads.

disconnecting the chiller from the ballscrews is an excellent idea. It is more trouble than it's worth.

[QUOTE=hsmexpert;343778]disconnecting the chiller from the ballscrews is an excellent idea. It is more trouble than it's worth. It tends to leak and cause problems with the ballscrew bearings.

Likely used non-shrink cementitious grout after leveling.Won't be a problem moving the machine.

Got sick of coolant dribbling and dribbling and dribbling all over the place after it was turned off, so replaced the ball valve with an anti drainback valve that pops off at about 3psi. Now after the coolant is turned off, I get a couple of dribbles, and thats it, $16.

    VMC15 XT rebuild
Added NSK roller rails to X and Y replaced Z with new rails
Rebuilt pendant with VGA LCD color screen, put NUC in pendant, added panel mount USB port. Added air blast at spindle using mist plug in. Added Calmotion LAN/USB with wireless router to send GCode straight to memory card on the LAN/USB card. Added piping to coolant tank with ball valve for wash down. Put new spindle in. Powder coated whole enclosure.

A jib crane to move my 4th axis table on and off the table. Another. I tapped power for shop lights tied in to their useless spot lights. And probably my favorite is the Calmotion USB upgrade.

Spidercool. Better than any coolant nozzle arrangement I've tried in 30 years.
Second best was 16 megs of memory.
Coolant filters help a lot too.
