I am trying to pocket mill from a quick, simply drawn 2d shape in Esprit. The tutorials I find all refer to using 3d models and choosing surfaces on the model. I have no model and find it un-necessary to create one for this simple process. I have been playing with the sub-elements like it says with no luck so far. Could someone direct me to a previous thread, as I'm sure it's been covered before? Picture an oval racetrack. I want to mill out the "racetrack" portion of this and leave the "infield" alone.
Re: how to simple 2d pocket mill around an island?
You need to make 2 chains, inner and outer profiles. Select the outside chain, create a pocket feature(from 2d mill bar), under one of the tabs there's a box to pick the island(pick inner chain). If it fails to create its usually the lead in/out.
