    Default Newbie Gravograph conversion help

Gravograph Is400 TM conversion... we sold our Gravograph on Ebay, but UPS damaged and they buyer refused. We got it back and the brain (separate box control) is fried. We have an extra cohesion 3d and Arduino board but are novists at best when converting. We already have two lasers and just want to use for metal engraving machine and cutting. Any advice?

Unless you have experience in designing and building CNC machines and setting up, I would sell the machine for scrap and purchase one that you know works.

Or Gary Campbell does CNC conversions, a google search might bring him up or you will find him over on the Acorn Forum.

What is fried in the control, it can't get fried in shipping damaged yes

Should be quite easy to convert if the stepper drives are in one piece, you can use Mach3 to get you going, so you only need Mach3 and a Breakout Board, and may be some stepper drives, what model Gravograph do you have

Here is someone that may be able to repair what you have, this is a PDF but the information is in there, are the 3 axes or mechanical parts undamaged

Anything Gravograph is going to cost you an arm and a leg. Gary Campbell is an expert at conversions and is just not some no name guy on the internet he is very well known all over in the CNC world and will do it right the first time.

Would it be less expensive just to do a breakout board and convert? I hate their software anyway lol.

More than likely, if your stepper drives are ok then yes a Breakout Board is all you would need and Mach3 would get you going so $10 and some time

Down load Mach3 and have a play with it, this will run up to 500 lines of code without any cost, to see if you like it there is plenty of help with Mach3 if you need it

You will need to post Photos of what is already there then we may be able to see what needs to be remove and replace would be the first place to start

I have done several gravograph conversions, what do you have for a budget, do you have a control software in mind?
