experience with a correspondence course

Hello guys
I am thinking about starting a correspondence degree course of study (Bachelor of Engineering).
I already have a professional training as a cutting machine operator and a vocational diploma.

How were your experiences finding a job after your study? Is it better with a degree from ‘proper’ university or from a university of applied science?
I can’t do either of them as i want to work fulltime and study part time while working. I have a family to feed so I can afford to go to university full time.
How is the income in a large company and so on?

Well income and finding a job is not a big problem if you are not necessary tied to a certain place. But I personally would not recommend doing an engineering course as a correspondence course!!

I was thinking about doing a correspondence course a while ago too. I also opened a forum and the answers I received where really helpful. However I did not do it in the end.
My family was more important for me than the potential professional success. Imagine you start the course and one of your kids ( I have 3) wants you attention. Then you need to stop learning and do other things. Of course the woman can care about the kids but she will get annoyed after a while. She also needs her free time and has her requirements. In my opinion you might risk your family live by starting the course.
So in my case after having considered all the pros and con,s I concluded that I am not going to start the course. I find it more important to see how my kids grow up rather than study books. The time you spend studying is just gone-nobody can give it back to you. And also consider the amount of money you require. That would be a few nice holidays with your family.
Maybe you will manage to become a superb job afterwards but is only a speculation. It also depends how well you have done in your study. Of course you will be able to get more money in your job but it that really worth it? You will have a lot more responsibility and maybe you will have to work more hours a week than you would as a ‘normal’ machine operator. Often in the end you get the same amount of money per hours plus a lot more stress.
Really consider all the pros and cons- maybe write a list with reasons for and against the course and then decide with your family together.
