Can a Bosch bi metal holesaw cut through cast iron or do I need a carbide tipped holesaw ?

The bi metal holesaw should be fine unless you hit a very hard spot in the casting. If it is a quality casting, then I would expect no problem.

Thanks Jim, I'll probably be giving this a go in the next week or so. I thought I should ask the question in case I had to order in a carbide holesaw, so nice to know I can try with an ordinary bi metal.
Fingers crossed that Emco castings are quality.

I'll need to make a guide piece so I can centre the pilot drill in the existing hole in the casting. That's been put on hold while I get the control enclosure/wiring progressed.
