Default Switch between ESS and Internet

    Hi All

I have just built a cnc router table and I am using Mach3 and ESS. Also on my computer I have Fusion 360 (free) which I am currently learning.

The problem I have is that my ethernet adapter is configured to talk to the ESS but, as you know Fusion 360 requires the internet to operate.

If I unplug the ESS and plug in the internet to use Fusion 360, the network adapter does not allow connection with the internet as it is configured to communicate with the ESS.
I can re-config the adapter each time I use Fusion then run the Warp9 ESS config again but it is time consuming. i am sure there is an easier way.

I don’t intend running fusion 360 or any other web programs while using Mach3.

My question is, can I set up 1 network adapter for ESS and a separate network adapter for the internet so I can switch between the two.

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

Yes, I use two adapters on my PC with a UC300ETH.

You should be able to use a single Ethernet adapter and a switch/router. UC300ETH can be connected through a switch, right? It does not need a direct connection to the computer?

Thanks very much for your help. I received a couple of replies about
The UC300ETH so I will investigate that.

Yes, you can use a switch, but I prefer as second adapter. It's a bit easier to get working, and only about $15.
And a dedicated adapter should potentially perform better if there's a lot of network traffic, I would think??

I don't think the traffic in a home network would cause any problems. Unlike the old school "repeaters" and "hubs", a modern switch routes network packets straight to their destination without clogging the rest of the network. The manual does not mention any potential problems either, it says the UC300ETH can be connected either directly to the computer or through a switch.
