USB dropping out

I have a unusual issue I have not seen before. This is my sixth machine with dynomotion. I have had the USB disconnect issue in the past and it always resulted in the board resetting. I have found that after adding a USB isolator the problem goes away. I have one on order now for this machine. The difference is now I am having random disconnects where I get the read failed auto disconnect message but the board is not resetting. If I'm running code the machine doesn't even stop running when the message appears. After clicking ok it will continue as if nothing happens. Sometimes it pauses until I hit ok then back to running. No loss of position or any other obvious issues. Do you have any suggestions about what might be causing it or what actions I can take to correct it.

The USB connection is great for keyboards and cameras.
It is appallingly awful for driving a machine with kWatts of power and tons of radiated EMI. The USB has almost zero resistance to EMI.
Many of us have tried it, and given up. We now use Ethernet connections.

Could be just the cable or something with your wiring that you have done different, it most likely is some noise that is causing it, yes, using the isolation connection should solve the problem but won't fix what is causing this to happen, it's always good to try and find what is causing the disconnect as it may cause other problems, VFD Drives are the worst for Noise so how have you installed the VFD Drive Cable to the Spindle

Thank you for the replys. As to the USB not working this is machine 6 and they all use the same control. The first one was over 10 years ago and still runs every day with no problems. All the machines have had rock solid connections so USB in general works great from my experience.
The machine is a old warthog router with atc. The third machine with atc. I removed everything from the control but the vfd. It was already wired and working properly but I will take a closer look at the connections. I had one issue like this in the past but got it sorted by removing a redundant ground wire causing a ground loop. It's possible I have done this again so I will spend the day going through it with a fine tooth comb.

I got everything all sorted out. I had a extra ground causing issues. Rock solid now.

Thats good you found it; this is usually something to do with Grounding or how shields are terminated
