Question Questions for TomK re. Linux and Kanalog

    Hi Tom,

    Just a couple of questions...

    1. Can KMotion run under Wine under Linux?

    2. Is there a version of Kanalog that is available with plug-in screw connectors rather than the hard soldered version?

Many thanks for all your work Tom - Kflop is a really great solution...

    Kind regards,
    Toneski....

I can't definitively answer 1, but it would depend on if the needed drivers would work. I'm aware there is a Linux port, but I'm not sure on how up to date it is, as it's not an official Dynomotion port.

2, the Kanalog does use plug in connectors. You can even plug them in vertically if needed i.e. so the wires come vertically of the board, not horizontally like the pictures.

    Hi Toneski,

#1 We haven't tried KMotion/KMotionCNC under Wine lately. We tried it many years ago and it mostly worked with some issues. I think the Jog Buttons acted peculiar. We don't have the resources to fully support Linux but we help when we can. If you try it please let us know.

#2 As m_c points out all the screw terminals on all our boards are removable/pluggable.

Gentlemen - thank you for your quick responses.

m_c - I'll go have a look around the forum for some pointers to the possible Linux version of KMotion - you wouldn't happen to have any pointers would you? Maybe I can help with the Linux port...

m_c & Tom - I hadn't even tried to pull the connectors off the board - but sure enough - yep they are pluggable. For some reason I just hadn't thought that they were. I was imagining something like the Weidmuller 2 part connectors.. To be honest I was somewhat reticent pull pull away - I didn't want to end up breaking the PCB!!

Thanks for your help gents - much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Toneski

    Hi Toneski,

Note the Linux Ports are of the KMotion Motion Libraries only. The KMotion.exe and KMotionCNC.exe Windows GUI apps would be difficult to port to native Linux. See this Video and the link in the Description:
