    Default Jenix DSC800 DRO

I have a combo mill/lathe with a Jenix DSC800 DRO. The X,Y,Z axis are stepper driven.

I want to disconnect the Jenix scales from the DRO display unit and instead connect them to KFLOP in order to create a closed loop system. Does anybody have experience with the Jenix DSC800?

The Scales have the following pins:

    Pin 1: + (+5V)
    Pin 2: A
    Pin 3: B
    Pin 4: Z
    Pin 5: - (0V)
    Pin 6: Shield

I assume the A and B pins on the scale correlate directly to the Encoder A & B phases on JP7 pins 7 & 8. Does anybody know what pin 4 (Z) is for? Does it perhaps perform a reset (zero) function on the scale?

    Thanks, Jan

    Hi Jan,

The Z signal is probably an index pulse that happens at one or maybe several places along the scale. It is normally used for homing. You can connect that to any spare 5V tolerant input on KFLOP as homing is performed in software which an be coded to watch any input.
