Default Pneumatic Diagram Spindle - feedback

I don't know much about pneumatics. I wanted feedback on this pneumatic spindle diagram. It seems like the 5>2 valve isn't necessary. This was provided by the ATC spindle manufacturer.

The air requirements and runtime are:

    Dust Removal 3-5 seconds
Air Seal - leave once spindle is started
    Air Return - 5 seconds
Air Inlet - only to change

5/2 way solenoid valves are used when one side of a device needs to be vented when the other side is pressurised, and vice versa.
That seems to be what is happening in the diagram, so I think it is required.

What he said. A 5/2 valve is needed to pressurize and vent a double-acting air cylinder. When one side of the cylinder is pressurized, the other side must be vented so the air could escape. The 5/2 valve does this with a single control signal.

Alright, it just seemed like the solenoid after the 5>2 valve (coming off of A) was redundant. I guess I need to read about each port again to understand what has to happen and when.

Are these solenoids traditionally triggered by M codes in the g code?

    No, it's not redundant:

The air requirements and runtime are:

    Dust Removal 3-5 seconds
Air Seal - leave once spindle is started
    Air Return - 5 seconds
Air Inlet - only to change
