Default Bridge design for raised x Axis cnc

Hi I am about to build a CNC machine to cut wood and foam. The design has a raised x-axis. The focus is put on speed and less on the ability to cut harder material like aluminum. sizes are 4m x-axis, 1,4m y axis and 0,25m z axis. X and Y uses a rack and pinion drive z axis a ballscrew combo. The combo is screwed on a 0,4m x 0,25m aluminum plate. Now I am considering how to build the bridge? As my focus is put on fast cutting I would like to build the bridge as light as possible. To keep costs down I would prefer to build it from steel. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Flexbex - I'm designing a kit router with gantry that would suit your build. Read the Maximus thread in the forum may give you some ideas. Peter
