Mechanical - Something is loose on your machine.
Hi there!
I have a Velox 5050 & my diagonal lines & circles are not cutting/ engraving straight. They are wobbly/ wavey & the machine feels a bit jerky when cutting/ engraving those diagonals & circles. I use autocad 2018 to create the linework & vcarve pro to create the code. I don't think the problem is coming from there. It seems to have gotten worse lately.
Maybe mechanical? Could it be CV settings or motor tuning? I use the Mach3 profile that came with the machine? I'm fairly new to cnc (about a year) & I was just asked to do work for a day spa & of course now I'm noticing the lines are not coming out straight :/
Some General info: 2 legs of the machine have wood shims under to level, but I checked recently & it's not perfectly level anymore, but it's not bad. I will re-level it.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much,
Simon

Thanks Ger, I appreciate the reply! Do you know which part is loose? Just joking, but I will sit down, clean & check every part of it this weekend. Thanks again for the quick reply!
Start at the spindle, and work backwards.

Thanks for this thread. I think I have the same mechanical issue.
Hey Ger!
That was exactly the problem and right where you said to check first. Tightened, cleaned, greased everything and it's running perfectly again! Made a maintenance checklist & schedule as well! Still learning...
Thanks for taking the time to read & reply, you were such a big help. Greatly appreciated!

Yes,
I discovered that I had some loose screws on my ballscrew end mounts. That has made all the difference. I’ve had screws loosen before and have discovered it’s handy to use threadlock on bolts and screws that frequently come loose

Good advice, I'll definitely pic some up, thanks!
