    Finishing up the mechanical portion of the machine.

    Now to VFD.........

    I showed an image of HY electrical
    connections I found online and the
    discussion about it somehow got lost.

    I cleaned it up a bit. Is this correct?

    Also, the VFD is turned on together
    with the PS through a 30A relay.

    Is that OK as well or does it need
    its own on/off switch?

    Thank you.

    The VFD and the Power supply need a correct sized Breaker that can be used as a switch as well, ( note not all Breakers can be used as a switch )

    The normal for U V W for it to turn the correct rotation is

    Pin1=U

    Pin2=V

    Pin3=W

    Ground Pin=4 (Check Pin 4 in your spindle to make sure it has continuity to the Spindle Body ) if it does not this has to be corrected and connected in side the top cap

    This type of Breaker is Ideal, there are other manufactures that have quality Breakers

    I had published images of the terminals of
    VFD and Mactec54 had mentioned that it
    looks like the VFD is an older model HY.

    I can't find the original images now but they
    are towards the middle of page 18.

    I would appreciate if Mactec54 or somebody
    else has the settings for this model HY.

    Here are lower resolution images of those:

    You will need to cover the white wire if that is being used as a Hot, if not you should not have a Neutral wire in the mix for 240v single Phase supply

    When you Power it up and look at the Parameters what are the first 2 letters being used PD is the norm for HY VFD but it could be something else if your VFD is a copy

    What Spindle do you have

    Volts=220
    Amp=
    Hz=
    RPM=
    Poles=2

    That wire is not connected to anything. Removed it.

    Here is what shows up in sequence when powered up:

    Ok to find what your Parameters are press the Stop/Reset after it has finished powering up, then press the program Key and then enter and you will see what the Parameters letters are the Real HY start with PD for this model VFD

    PD000=0 ( 0 For Parameter unlock ) ( 1 For Locked )

    PD001=0 (1 For Remote Control)

    PD002=0 ( 1 For 0-10v Terminal Control or Remote Trim Pot Control )
    ( J1 Also Needs to be set for Remote Terminal Control 1-2 jumper connection )

    PD003=400

    PD004=400

    PD005=400

    PD006=200

    PD007=20

    PD008=220 (Motor Rated Voltage )

    PD009=110

    PD010=11

    PD011=120 ( 100 Minimum Setting )

    PD13= 08 (is for Factory reset, Only use this to set VFD to Factory Default Settings )

    PD014=8 ( Acceleration Adjust to suit)

    PD015=8 ( Deceleration Adjust to suit)
    ( PD15 is ignored IF PD26=1 Then the Spindle will Coast to a Stop)

    PD023=0 ( Forward Run Only )

    PD041=8 ( Carrier Frequency up to 10 Max for these Spindle motors)

    PD120=120 ( Stall Prevention )

    PD141=220 ( Motor Rated Voltage )

    PD142=9 ( Motor Max Amps 2.2Kw Spindle 9 amp )

    PD143=2 ( Motor Number of Poles)

    PD144=3000 (Max Motor RPM) 3,000= (24,000)

    PD70=0 ( This may need to be set to 1 if Control Voltage is 0-5v )

    PD72=400

    PD73=120 ( 100 Minimum RPM Setting )

    PD174= ??? ( To Be Set to the VFD Drives Max Rated Output Amps )
