Looks like a 4 pin microphone plug. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...+plug&_sacat=0
Hey guys,
So I just got an Hy-3040, and it has the now dreaded parallel port. I just bought a PCI card, but I just found out Mach3 doesn't work on 64 bit systems.
I do have an old computer that ran XP, and was even using it a few months back.
Well the hard drive is 15 years old, and there are some bad sectors, and for some reason I'm unable to reinstall XP.
I am currently installing XP on a VM, but I heard that it may not work.
So that brings me here, I really don't want to buy a USB motion controller, I'd rather design my own.
I plan to make a board and upload grbl on it, I am a bit familiar with grbl already as my 3018 uses it.
I would really like to use the cables coming off the motors, but I have no idea what the connectors are called.

Does anybody know what these are called?
Much appreciated.

It looks like they might be these: https://www.allelectronics.com/item/...nnector/1.html
You would be talking about XLR Jim, very similar but not the same.
Those are them MP, thanks.
They don't seem to have a name though, thought they were DIN plugs (they were on that link you posted), but they are different.
Edit: Nvm, Jim was right, I thought you meant XLR but they are actually called Microphone plug. Thanks and sorry.
Edit 2: Turns out the correct name for Microphone plug is GX16.
Suggestion....
Try ebay and get a dedicated xp comptuer for cheap there. I've bought several refurbished ones to run machines.
Try your local Craigslist, there are lots of older computers for sale.

I found them under GX16-4 designation.
"-4" being the number of wires

If the CNC machine has a parallel Port input, you can use grbl by just connecting the wires from an old pp cable directly to the Arduino for grbl. Like I did here
