The two Y axis motors each need their own drive, and are slaved in software.
I would not use Mach3, or the parallel port.
You'd need a motion controller for Mach4, and can run any modern OS.
I'd look at UCCNC, which is considerably cheaper than Mach4, and is better integrated with their motion controllers, as they make both, instead of Mach4, which uses 3rd party controllers.
The Centroid Acorn is also getting popular.
A touch screen will work with any software.
