I never used the clips. My whole machine is grounded so I just used 1 wire to the touch plate and the other side of my ground was the tooling

So first time this has happened to me. I'm using 2010 screenset and was doing a tool change...put the bit in, connected my alligator clip to the bit and cycle start to probe to my fixed plate...only it didn't stop and broke the bit.
Guess i'll have to always check the connection is working before hitting start....
or does anyone has a different solution that using an alligator clip for better contact??

well i could try running it to the router itself and see if that works? its a bosch colt.
Bosch Colts have plastic bodies, and I think the spindle is isolated.
You could always switch to a toolsetter, rather than a conductive plate. I plan on going that route in the future.

The lower section of the the bosch is aluminum...but not sure if its conductive to the tool though will try it...
Just so convenient for tool changes with the 2010 screenset this way...
how is a tool setter different from a touch plate...i have no knowledge of these...are they just spring loaded?
Spring loaded with a switch or sensor inside.

i see...so generally more reliable...
reliable ...as in it always makes contact and you don't break your bits...
anyone have a recommendation on which/where to get one?
and how do this hook up as compared to a conductive plate?
i'm using mach3, gecko 540 driver
