Looks good... I would just double up on the side plate below the gantry

It must be nice to be able to scrap some 1" acrylic, lol!

    Adam,
Thanks for the advise....i will surely consider it. I had a piece of 12mm acrylic left over from a job i did for my wife so i glued pieces together to make 24mm thick pieces. Yes it's a shame to waste all that acrylic but my cad skills are poor so i have to rely on making and remaking parts at the moment. I am worried about the weight of the gantry though....it's going to be really heavy!! It moves easy and smooth but there is still a lot of weight to be added

could you put some traingular corner brace pieces between the carriage plates and the gantry side arms? I imagine that would stiffen it up pretty well.

I was thinking the same thing......hopefully there will be enough room for the z axis cause i would like to access the whole area from side to side on the machine base when milling. Most of it i tried to draw up but i usually mess up somewhere.

well at the very least you can have a corner piece right up to the gantry bottom behind the Z-axis

Looks like you could fit one or two nice 25mm thick brace pieces under the gantry beam without interfering with your ability to get the Z-axis to full travel.

You are correct, there should be enough space.

Yesterday i fitted part of the z-axis to confirm a few things....all goo. So today i started making the final ball screw bracket for the x-axis.
