Unhappy I Need Help. CNC not moving.

Hi good day CNC Zoners. First of all, I wasn't really sure where to post this thread so decided to post it in here. MODs are welcome to move it where it belongs. I am a newbie on CNC and bought this cheap CNC thru ebay ( CNC 3040) Now I can't get it to work. I have no idea how I am going to troubleshoot this machine. I'm thinking of lots of factor that might be the problem with this. First, If I installed the software right. Is the Parallel adapter working? The cnc axis controller isnt working? Motors not working?

So first, I have freshly installed Windows XP on my computer and connected everything as what it says on the maunual. After testing it out, none of XYZ is moving. Tho, the spindle is working if you control it manually on the CNC controller. I set everything correctly on the Mach 3 software includng the port number. Then after, I connected the parallel port and the USB cable. It's still not working. I even tried to use two different computer and even, an old Dell laptop just to try my luck, but all didn't work out. I also tried re-installing everything and all didn't work as well. I also check the hard ware on device manager and it says that it is working fine. Lastly, it seems that the XYZ motors are locking up once I turn the driver switch on. is that normal? Can you please help me out with this? Thank you.

What kind of parallel port are you using?

    - If it's built in the motherboard it should work fine.
    - If it's a PCI add-on board you might need to check the card address at the device manager (it can be different than the default address).
    - Parallel to USB adapters will NOT work.

It's an add-on adapter to my z68 and z77 boards. In device manager there are two addresses. One time it was

    IO - E010 - EXXX
    IO - E000 - EXXX

So at config of Mach 3, I put 0xe010 on the first adapter and it still didnt work. I even tried enabling the 2nd adapter putting both 0xe010 and 0xe000. Still can't get it to work.

Did you configure the output ports as "1"?

Is the E-stop working, or at least emulated so you can disable it? (the motors won't move while E-stop is active)

Can you post some screenshots of the ports and pins config windows?

The motors locking up when powering up the drivers is normal, it's a good sign.

You have the 3 drivers set to use the same pins. Usually is 2and 3 for x 4and 5 for y and 6 and 7 for z. What u need depends on how it is actually wired. I have the 6040 machine like yours and that is as i said.
Step port and direction port. There is no port 0 it is 1 or 2 set them to port 1

Go to the mach site and there is a getting started guide in the support documentation page. This outlines it all quite well

In addition to setting the pins to port 1, try entering just E010 for Port 1, and disable Port 2.

    Hello,
I am having the same problem with a CNC 3040T, the X,Y,Z wont move when I give the command on mach 3 Demo. I tried fixing the pots but nothing works. I am using a USB adapter not the parallel cable.
How did you fix the problem?

    Thank you.

Since he hasn't posted about the problem since 2018,there is a strong chance that he overcame the problem.
