My experience with masking tape wasn't good. It is made of paper, (natch), and the edges of the cut get fuzzy. The adhesive is also a bit weak and there's slippage around the cut, adding to the mess. I haven't tried contact paper, but it would seem to address both of those issues. (it's not made of paper, the name is just a holdover from the past).

I tried the painters tape, the results were not good. I picked up some contact paper but haven't had the time to try it yet. too busy trying to finish up my second router.

I have a small question, where did you get your CNC Electronics part such as the stepper drivers, motors, power, jogging keyboard. Thanks a lot. Btw, I'm planning to build a 2' x 4' base on your model.

I bought most of my stuff from ebay as well. Then I replaced most of it. the chinese motors I purchased from longs motors ended up having a old ball shaft size. I was expecting 1/4" and ended up with 5/16". Replaced all my motors with automationtechnologiesinc.com and never looked back. Used a 7.3a 48V switching supply but found that not quite enough and purchased a 50v 10amp linear power supply instead. I made hall effect limit switches from some plans on cnczone, but eventually replaced them with proximity sensors from china. pay attention to the size of the sensor however. As there are a few different sizes. My G540 has worked flawlessly as well as the SuperPID I had before I replaced my router with a chinese spindle. r00t4rd3d, you need to replace your's. You could then run your machine in your apartment. Dust might be an issue though

I didn't know you had stopped. Sucks when real life interferes in our hobbies though.

Where did the bearing blocks that support your lead screws come from?
After almost 2 years in storage, I finally got a place with a spot for me to CNC again!
