Hey Carve, I have limit switches I am going to install before any power tool gets mounted to try and prevent any mishaps. I have actually thought multiple times, "Why the hell did I put those rails on top".
Other than maximising the working dimension, the real problem I think you'll face unless you have highly efficient dust extraction, is the gumming up of waste around the bearings on the table. The suggestion to fit a rebated MDF spoilboard is a good one and just about solves both problems. Looking forward to seeing this beasty running!
cheers,
Ian
It's a state of mind!
Nice!
Router mount made. I have to wait for a 1/4" to 1/8" collet reducer I ordered before I can cut any thing. I wasnt planning on buying a new router and the planned-on-using Craftsman rotary tool I have and ordered bits for is 1/8"

So I noticed a 1/16th dip in my X Axis MDF table. Probably warped from only painting one side. "MDF Madness" it turns out was a bad choice for a title. There is only 2 pieces left, the sides of my Y Axis. The rest of the wood is laminated plywood and 2x4's.
And all together. Tonight maybe the night......
TADA! First cut.
I need to scale the LinuxCNC logo to my bit size or get a smaller bit but it worked
Learning the software part now. Also ordered some upgrades for my Y axis.
Nice I use the same router on my MDF cnc machine, and it's great, plenty of power to mill aluminum. Also do you have any plans for the mount you made, I'm looking to make a new one.
Thanks!
I didnt use any plans for my mount. I got my inspiration for it from the Probotix Dewalt mount which I still might buy.

I have it and don't like it. The bracket is to shallow and seems to have some flex the top of the router hits the back plate when fully inserted.
Hmm, good to know. Have you seen this one?
