    Default Nema23 vs 34

    Hi guys

I've read here in the past someone said that 23 steppers of the same oz/in compared to 34's have a higher RPM, Does anyone know if this is correct and if so any estimates on how much higher it would be, I have nema 34 150 oz/in driving @24v with hobby cnc board and am getting 170 rpm on rapids without any hangs bump it up to 200 and it will occasionally hang. is this average does anyone have a similar setup or one using 23 steppers and 24 volts. curious to know what others are getting.

    Ray

I was getting 400+ rpm from 100 oz nema 23 motors on 24 volts. That's with a load. No load was over 600.

What software do you use? are you using accel?

I can get 400 RPM with load with my 80oz NEMA23 4v 1.1a Vexta steppers at 24v, Never tried them without a load.

    What's the Volt/amp areating of your motors. A 4v/1A/80oz motor will spin faster @ 24v than a 12v/1A/80oz @24v at peak torque.

    Hello

Hmmm looks like I maybe missing some speed with these motors
Balsaman I,m using Desknc a dos based program
here are the 3 settings that control speed and my current setting
1 MAx steps per second 500
    2 Start velocity 300
    3 Accelaration 3000

Anoel my motors are Fuji 4.5v 1.4amp and PSsupply is Powerone 24v 12 amp the resistors are 50 watt and 13ohm I think
and it is a 4 axis board

what do you guys think would a change to nema 23 maybe powermax 2 like on xylotex site be an upgrade
