Trying to set up and load tools on my new to me DMC103V with 840D control and between the DMG manual, and the 840D manual am missing something. I can describe and load tools in the tool magazine but cant call them from MDI. I get a 171090 error but me error manual does not explain what that error means.
I see reference in the manuals to "activating" a tool and stuff like "duplo" values but no explanation of what those terms mean that I could find. Never seen a more needlessly complicated system for tool data entry in my 20 years using cnc. Heres what my tool table looks like after tool data is entered.
Does anyone with one of these know of a basic procedure start to finish for setting up tools on these machines?

How did you load tools into machine?
Procedure that I use is
1. make tool with all dimensions with "new tool"
2. go to tool list, select tool and hit "load"
3. select place for tool to be loaded to
4. instert tool in that place
Re: How to setup tools on a DMC103V with 840D control
I able to load and describe tools. I fixed the problem. WHen I got the machine it had a drive that was acting up/had some bad sectors. I reloaded the NC and PLC archives from the funky drive and that cleared up everything except tool changes. I used ddrescue to create a repaired image. Then I made a cloned drive from the repaired image. Tried to load tools and got the 17190 error after booting with the cloned drive (I was getting the same errors on the original drive). I reloaded the NC/PLC archive from the repaired cloned drive.
I guess the original load of the archive was on a bad sector that was repaired on the rescued image? Anyway, it works ok now.
